My Toyota Tacoma door handle fails to open from the inside. My truck has around 13,000 miles on it and I’ve only opened that door maybe 100 times over the past year. Toyota claims it’s a wear issue but multiple posts have similar incidents with no damage to them. They just fail to work. I was unable to exit my vehicle because my driver door handle wouldn’t open my door….I had to call for assistance in a disabled parking space at the Veteran hospital to open the door from the outside because I was unable to reach the outside handle due to my disability.

10/15/2026 · Unknown or other

When attempting to exit the vehicle from the driver seat, the interior door handle no longer will open the door. A mechanism within the door has broken and does not allow it to be opened from the inside. There is an audible difference between the broken driver side and the working passenger side when working the handle. The exterior handle on the driver door still works.
