Warning light questions
What do the colors of dashboard warning lights mean?
Red means a safety risk or possible engine damage: stop when it's safe. Yellow or amber means something needs attention soon. Green and blue lights are just indicators, like headlights or cruise control being on.
Which warning lights mean stop driving right away?
Oil pressure, engine temperature, the red brake light, and the battery/charging light are the ones to take most seriously. A flashing check engine light also means slow down and stop soon.
Why is my warning light flashing?
A flashing light is usually more urgent than a steady one. A flashing check engine light means a severe misfire. A traction control light flashing while you drive is normal; it means the system is working.
